Dr Lorna Thomson

Lorna joined the University of Edinburgh as the Director of Edinburgh Research Office (ERO) in 2017, following a role at King’s College London. After a short period as a researcher in organometallic chemistry, Lorna spent time in industry and the charity sector before settling into a career in higher education. Here, she has held a number of roles in local departments and at the centre of a University, providing experience of seeing research and research management from a number of different angles.

Lorna is continuously looking at how best to support the University of Edinburgh's research community across the research lifecycle, particularly in the pursuit of funding. Her aim is to deliver the highest quality professional service to ensure the University’s researchers can focus on their application and project delivery.
